The Skolkovo Center is a platform for conducting scientific research and development that can be applied in various fields of the economy in the future. The center has a park where you can walk or ride a bike. The park has specially equipped bike paths that cover the most iconic objects of the center.
Problem
There are several cafes in the park where tourists or residents of the center can relax and have a snack. There was a need to create conditions with a high level of comfort for residents and guests of the center.
As part of the project to create bike paths in the park, the task was to come up with a special type of bike parking where visitors could take a break from a long bike ride and have a snack.
Process
During the project, the stages that the user goes through while cycling were highlighted:
After the pre-project study, several conclusions were made:
1. Most of the tourist routes are not visited alone.
2. People often ride together and can take children with them.
3. Employees of the center are modern progressive people who love cycling and they have a need to spend their free time in the park with colleagues or friends.
4. Cyclists often use backpacks to transport the necessary things and after long walks, they have a need to take them off
As a result, it was decided to add an additional seat for the second person.
Requirements
During the design of the parking lot, it was important to take into account certain requirements
Therefore, it was decided to use materials such as:
1. Metal profile
2. Metal perforated sheet
3. Consider ergonomics
4. Wood
5. The design must be vandal-proof
6. It was necessary to use wear-resistant materials
7. Concrete block
Sketches
Before drawing, I turned to the book by Henry Dreyfus to create a dimensional model where all the ergonomic indicators of the human body would be taken into accoun
When the dimensions were approved, I created several bike parking concepts.
Modeling and visualization
The customer chose the concept and I started modeling the design in Fusion 360. It was important for me to provide the engineers with a model in STEP format to simplify our further communication and the team could rely not only on visualization, but also on a model that they could open in SolidWorks.
Implementation
When the concept was approved, the engineers started modeling parking in SolidWorks and sent iterations to the project manager, who coordinated with me the proportions and details of the design so that the final product was manufactured taking into account design and ergonomics. We checked the drawings, made edits and provided materials for production.
Result
Construction assembled at the factory
After several iterations, parking lots were manufactured and displayed in the park.
