Apart from working on ODM projects, an industrial designer pays significant attention to managing OEM projects, which involve solving numerous specific tasks. It is necessary not only to adapt the object to improve the user experience but also to ensure, through CMF documentation, the maximum alignment of the final product with the designer's sketches, taking into account batch production, cost, and manufacturing capabilities.
The goal of OEM products is to quickly launch them on the market to assess the target audience's interest and gather feedback. This allows for the development of a product from scratch that better meets the actual needs and preferences of users.
Project 1: Bicycles
Sketch Phase
At the initial stage of creating the sketch, the main task was to develop a unique color scheme with a combination of different textures in order to distinguish the brand's bikes on the market.
Final Product Photos
The main difficulty was the combination of matte and glossy textures, which made the logo noticeable, but at the same time not bright, matching the color of the frame, but monotonous.
During the painting process, we changed the color codes several times to achieve the desired shade and ensure the perfect combination of paint and stickers.
